I'm Dave Bruderly. I'm a progressive Democrat running to bring New Energy to the U.S. Congress. I am a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy and a retired Naval Officer with Vietnam era service. I've worked in Florida as a Professional Engineer and environmental consultant in small businesses for over 30 years. I want what you want – a sound economy, healthy communities, happy families, security and honest government that serves ordinary Americans.
I am a fiscal conservative; I support balanced budgets and wise use of resources to serve the public interest. I do not support tax cuts for the super-wealthy as does my opponent. We need to invest in our own communities rather than leaving our children the bill for the largest budget deficit in U.S. history.
Federal leadership is needed to stimulate investment to rebuild America’s infrastructure – energy, transportation, telecommunications, health care and education – and fund associated research and development. For example, policies to stimulate immediate use of alternative fuels and efficient energy technologies will reduce our need for oil and thus enhance our national security, prevent pollution and create good new jobs.
I will work to win federal support to enhance public transit, protect our water resources and enhance education and health care.
I respect the Constitution and pledge to work to prevent inappropriate amendments and legislation, such as sections of the Patriot Act, that erode our fundamental rights and freedoms.
I support Universal Health Care for all Americans, regardless of income or work status. It's not only compassionate, it’s also fiscally sound. Wellness and preventative care costs far less than emergency room care, and lifting the administrative burden of health insurance will make American businesses more competitive. But first we have to fix the Medicare prescription drug mess my opponent voted for by allowing imports and competition to bring down costs.
Our Veterans and Retirees need to know their benefits are secure. I will fight to protect and strengthen our Veterans' benefits and Social Security from risky private investment schemes. My opponent “studied” a bill for more than nine months, a bill that would have fulfilled America’s promise of health care benefits for Veterans, and then he failed to act. Clifford would vote to send our people to war without asking the President why -- and then refuse medical care to returning Veterans. His voting record is rated “zero” by Disabled American Veterans.
I'm a big supporter of public schools. We must value our teachers as professionals and fully fund education – at all levels.
I support a strong military and competent, cooperative intelligence services. We will only end terrorism when we understand and correct the desperate conditions that create terrorists.
I want my country to be respected, once again, for exporting freedom, peace and hope. I don't want us to be feared and isolated for exporting chaos and unnecessary wars.

Measured stormwater events and estimated annual mass loadings of nutrients, solids and metals in Lake Munson and Lake Jackson urban watersheds.
