, I'm one of the two candidates challenging 2 time incumbent Ted Deutch, who abandoned his Florida legislative district constituents to run in a surprise hat trick election when Robert Wexler, a 7 term Congressman, abandoned his constituents for another job.
Because a special election had to be called to replace Wexler, and another special election to fill the seat being abandoned by Deutch, the taxpayers had to pony up an extra estimated $1.1 million to pay for the whole shell game. It was a neat trick, if you like neat political tricks.
If Deutch completes 5 years in the seat, he'll be eligible for a lifetime pension.
The 'Peoples' House, the United States House of Representatives, is supposed to belong to the People -- not lawyers and millionaires.
I am running because I have ideas and solid proposals to completely restructure the way congressional offices are administered, and to be a true liaison of the People, for ONE SINGLE TERM.
James Madison said, "The security intended to the general liberty consists in the frequent election and in the rotation of the members of Congress." I wholeheartedly agree.
As it stands, the day after being elected -- congressional representatives have already begun their next campaigns. So while you are paying your congressman for a full time job, in reality he is working part time for the constituents, and full time for his next campaign.
I look forward to the challenge of taking the Congress back, and putting it squarely and fairly in the lap of the people, instead of the pockets of the HIGH $$$ donors, special interests, and corporations.
